Project Description
Animinity is a web-based anime community and discovery platform featuring title browsing, community leaderboards, interactive quizzes, new and upcoming release tracking, and user profiles. Built as a full-stack application with Go (backend API) and SvelteKit (frontend).
Challenge
Existing anime platforms are centralized and don't deliver an engaging community experience. The client wanted a platform that feels personal, fast, and has gamification features (quizzes, leaderboards, points) to drive long-term user engagement.
Solution
We built a REST API using Go with PostgreSQL, optimized for high performance on large anime datasets. The frontend was built with SvelteKit for fast rendering and a smooth SPA experience. Features include: browsing with advanced filters, quiz system with scoring, real-time leaderboards, seasonal anime tracking, and OAuth authentication.
Result
The platform successfully handles thousands of anime titles with API response times under 50ms. The quiz and leaderboard system creates an effective retention loop, with users averaging over 8 minutes per session. SvelteKit delivers a First Contentful Paint under 1.2 seconds.
